About Me: I knew at an early age that I wanted to make a career out of writing about games, and now I have. You'll find most of my stuff right here on HonestGamers, of course, but don't be surprised if my name pops up elsewhere. Living out my dream keeps me very busy, and I wouldn't have it any other way! |
Well, I've now officially posted my 500th review on the site, excluding old reviews that I deleted a long time ago. I find it fitting that the game I reviewed was Nintendo-published, since Nintendo is the company that ignited my passion for games and my desire to write about them more than 20 years ago. I'd hoped that the 500th game would be something special, but I wasn't going to go out of my way to make that happen. Fortunately, Nintendo managed to make it happen for me. Metroid Prime Trilogy arrived here a week ago and enjoying its content these past few days has been a real treat.
So, I'm apparently coming down with a cold again. Two nights ago, I felt it starting and I drank a lot of echinacea tea and orange juice. It seemed to fight it off and last night I felt just fine. Today, I felt the cold coming back and I drank some tea and orange juice but to no avail. It managed to get a hold. Tonight at work, I could feel the cold getting worse by the minute and now it's a full-blown cold. I've made myself soup and I'm drinking OJ and tea, but I think for the first time in something like 15 years, I'm destined to have two miserable colds in a single year. Crap...
How the hell could you give hunk of garbage like Wild Arms 4 and Disgaea series a 10, but Persona 3 a 9 ?

I hate my day job with a fiery passion. I'm rather confident that I will soon either walk out in a fit of complete and utter disgust... or I'll get fired. The latter could happen whether I screw up or not, as several long-time employees have recently been let go for minor infractions that elsewhere probably wouldn't even warrant a frown from a manager. It's absurd, really.
So, today I heard part of one of the less over-played Weezer songs on the radio and when I got home, I decided to check out the official site to see how things are going for the band.
Apparently, they're going pretty good. Last Wednesday, they just announced that a seventh studio album is officiallyin the works and will be releasing on October 27, 2009. There's no name and the only detail so far is that the first single will release in August and is called "(If you're wondering if I want you to) I want you to".
Currently, the front page of the site lists the most recent 8 reviews from staff and freelancers and I wrote 4 of them. That's a lot of output from one person and I'm starting to feel it. My reviews are probably suffering, too.
Anyway, I'm now at 499 reviews posted on the site and there are around 4 more that I plan to write over the next month or two. I'll probably take my time with those because the truth is that I'm getting burnt out on reviewing. I don't want to force myself to some sort of breaking point and then never review again. That would be far too melodramatic and I'm no good at posting about retirement.
I am in the process of writing a review for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on the PlayStation 3. I've made several attempts at an intro and spent awhile on the one that I'm including below, but it's just too long and probably not interesting enough to serve as a worthwhile introduction to a review that will probably be fighting to stay below a certain word count as it is.
Therefore, I'm including the intro here for posterity. That's about it...
