About Me:

I knew at an early age that I wanted to make a career out of writing about games, and now I have. You'll find most of my stuff right here on HonestGamers, of course, but don't be surprised if my name pops up elsewhere. Living out my dream keeps me very busy, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

The PSP is the Playstation 2's dream realized
December 12, 2005

Tonight, my wife was watching television and there was an ad on for The Brother's Grimm. I'm referring to the Matt Damon and Heath Ledger movie that Terry Gillam directed. It was a pretty big flop in theatres, I guess. Anyway, the add said "Coming soon to DVD and PSP," like it was the most natural thing in the world.

I have an Xbox 360 now
November 22, 2005

It took a lot of standing around this morning in 20-degree weather (more than two hours, actually), but I have an Xbox 360 now. It's not the one with the hard drive. However, it's a system, and I have some games for it. Rather than write a long entry here detailing the trials and tribulations I went through in further detail, I'm going to go play some games!

The Xbox 360 Launch: Sour Grapes
November 21, 2005

My crusade for the Xbox 360 began a few months ago, when I went to local merchants and tried to pre-order the system. I was too late; they weren’t accepting money anymore because they couldn’t guarantee that systems would arrive. Weeks later, I heard that they started refusing gamers’ cash too late. Many who pre-ordered are screwed, just like me.

And when I say I’m screwed, what I mean is that I can’t get my hands on an Xbox 360. I’ll be waiting weeks, just like the rest of you, because Microsoft made the hugest blunder in its history by deciding on a worldwide launch. The result? Instead of irritating a few gamers in America on launch day, they’ll spread out the system so that everyone can gripe together throughout the world!

Sometimes it sucks to be Bush
November 20, 2005

I don't have much to say, just that you should read the following Reuters article with much haste:

clicky

Yes, it's quite funny. It's even work-appropriate, just in case you wondered (as if I would link to hentai!).

I got my second kit
November 20, 2005

Well, tonight I was playing some more Battlefield 2 and I got my second unlockable kit. The way the game works, your kills and support actions are awarded points that contribute to your 'global score,' which at certain points unlocks upgraded weapon kits as a reward for your hours of playing.

Mario Kart DS Impressions
November 15, 2005

I'm happy to report that Mario Kart DS thus far has been even better than I hoped it could be. I read the IGN review and the guy who wrote it said that this is the best Mario Kart game ever. I scoffed at the notion... until I played it.

Basically, the thing that sticks out the most to me is the rush of nostalgia. Generally, it's of the good kind. While there are those areas that harken back to games like Mario Sunshine, which I just can't feel as fondly about as some of the classics, there are also more Super Mario Bros. 3 shoutouts than there have been in the series since the original Super Mario Kart. It's really quite cool.
