Monkey Island for me!
July 10, 2009

Got a better graphics card. Second hand from a friend - cheap. Said I could buy it from him if Monkey Island worked, and it did. Also boosted my 512 MB of RAM up to 1 GB. Monkey Island works! A little slow at times, but playable. I'm happy now!

No Monkey Island for me.
July 08, 2009

How sad. The textures don't show up, the game runs at about one frame every few seconds... so it's pretty much unplayable. Granted, my computer is under the minimum requirements, but Wallace and Grommit had the same requirements, and that game ran fine.

Looks like I need a new processor, something over 2.0 GHz, preferably 3.0... probably a GB of ram or more, and a modern graphics card.

How is Jerec going to pay for all this? Hoo boy.

Getting psyched for Monkey Island!
July 05, 2009

Found a graphics card I could use, so while it's not the greatest, my computer should be able to run Tales of Monkey Island. Wallace and Grommit has the same system requirements, and I was able to run the demo of that with no issues, so here's hoping!

Hopefully these new Monkey Island episodes inspire some new reviews from me. Got the whole season ordered. Hell, I might even write a FAQ if I finish the game quick enough and don't need much help with the puzzles myself. I'm a fairly old hand at these games now, but I still get stumped from time to time.

And the remake of Secret of Monkey Island! Looking forward to that, too. Always wanted to play the first two games with better graphics and voice acting. I hope it's not too expensive!

Strong Bad Episode 1
July 01, 2009

Today I decided to pre-order Tales of Monkey Island for PC, so I get whatever bonus stuff I can get. I love Monkey Island, and after playing TellTale's Sam & Max Season 1, I felt confident that it would be good. When I finished my transaction, I was given a code to download one free episode of my choice.

I went with the first episode of the Strong Bad game with the convoluted title. I played it in an afternoon, and while it was short and not particularly brain taxing, it did make me laugh. A lot.

Making your own Teen Girl Squad episode is a hoot. Prank calling the other characters was also funny. I loved Strong Bad's wit and humourous observations about stuff. I loved his Homestar Runner impersonation.

Reviews on the horizon.
June 24, 2009

lol

seriously though

I have about half a Star Ocean: The Last Hope review done. It's a game of two halves, which makes my review also seem like a review of two halves. Maybe it's okay to play it that way, or maybe I need to work on cohesion.

My other is a more gimmicky fiction type review of Oblivion. It might work. It might not. Won't know until I try.

If either of those two end up happening, I will be mighty pleased with myself and will probably look at writing more reviews.

(Untitled Post)

I might also post lists of stuff from the following comps:

Beat Em Up (November 2004)
Contra (September 2004)
Fanfiction comp (June 2006)
SNK (October 2004)
The Great War (3 rounds in October 2006)

Anything else I may have judged has been lost to time and the Purge Monster. But I think that's it. I'm a pretty damn prolific judge.
