About Me:

Hello.

Another OutRun blog entry.
May 16, 2006

After trying to finish 1st in this race involving 99 cars for the 5th or 6th time, I almost made it this time. Unfortunately, I ended up in 2nd after hitting a wall just inches from the finish. So, I was like "eh" and decided to take my 2nd place position.....

Except that didn't actually happened.....

Instead, my car just kept going pass the finish line while I was still in control of it. I then proceeded to run right through a crowd that didn't seem to give a damn about a car coming right at them, drove on the river, and eventually crashed into the Statue of Liberty.

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast

Finally got OutRun 2006 today.
May 01, 2006

Some tidbits after playing it for a little bit (aka four hours):

-It plays exactly like OutRun2, so you can just jump right in.
-Cars actually spin out of control when you hit them from behind at high speeds (non-rival cars fade away afterwards).
-Slipstreaming has been added. You can gain some extra speed if you stay behind a vehicle. If you've played 18-Wheeler American Pro Trucker, you know exactly what I mean.
-Flagman (the fat guy in the red shirt) talks!
-Instead of unlocking stuff like in OR2, you'll now have to purchase them using OR Miles you get in the single-player mode.
-You can listen to the original 1989 tunes and their remixes.
-All of the OR2 tracks are in this game, along with the OR2SP tracks.
-You can switch to custom soundtracks.

Once you go Bla...... no.

< rambling>After playing the slightly disappointy PDZ, I just had to go play Black after not touching it for a month. It's really just a fun game. It's a balls-to-the-walls action game, it knows it's an action game, and it doesn't try to be anything else. Even though it's short, each mission is a blast to play. If I had to pick one mission that wasn't great, however, it would be the second mission set in the forest. It's not bad, but it has pauses in the action that really make it stand out from the rest of the game. I'll be playing it until I get OutRun 2006 in the mail.

Good game. I reviewed it. Read it.< /end rambling>
