I also just realized, as I'm writing this, that I'm currently watching an LP for Dead to Rights, which is also a Namco game.
Did someone brainwash me while I was sleeping?
Well, now that I finally got to experience it...
Overall, I think the "launch" library is decent. There's some Atari 2600 and Intellivision titles, as well as some arcade titles from Konami and Atari. Game Room and the game pack downloads are free, so you can go ahead mess around with it and demo games. The downside to demoing is that you can only demo a game once. For certain games, this is annoying, because you can lose pretty quick trying to figure out how to play correctly.
For the past two hours, on and off, I've been trying to enter the damn thing, but I'm stuck at a loading screen. One time it told me the servers are currently down.
Great start, developers, and thank you for wasting my morning.
In order to exit each floor, I need to destroy every Octy in a floor, then I can leave through a tunnel. Sounds easy, but they shoot back at my character, as well as release a ton of enemies that follow me around until I destroy them. Adding to the tension is a ton of random appearing enemies. Some appear on ceilings, falling on the player, others come dashing out of the left or right side of the screen, and then there are bullets that just materialize.
There are times, rarely, usually if I'm tired or bored, where I would lose on purpose in an online multiplayer match. I do this by just walking towards the enemy, then just stop and let them kill me.
Now, the reason I bring this up is because I always find it so odd and amusing how violent they react to this, almost as if they're trying harder to kill me than when I was actually fighting back. In Halo 3, I have seen players waste their grenades on me, when it's clearly visible that I'm not going to do jack. I think I've even seen someone teabag me once afterwards.
Were they this blindingly annoying in the original N64 version?
Also, I thought it was hilarious that I was awarded two t-shirt avatars for a headshot to a guard who did nothing but stare back at me.
Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere
I thought about doing Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies next, but I'm interested in an upcoming release or two that's coming out, so maybe some other time. Hell, I was almost tempted to buy Ace Combat 5, because it's currently selling for $15 new on Amazon.
I actually still might buy it...
-Pointless Trivia Corner: Between Air Combat, AC2, and AC3, I think I took approximately 500 snapshots. And you only got to see 55 of them. The rest were deleted.
