About Me: Hello. |
Don't buy it.
Just finished it, plan on doing a review. As someone who defended the first game's charming simplicity in a review and made a blog entry noting the release of Witch & Hero II on this site, I felt I needed to quickly warn people about the terribleness of the second game as fast as possible. It's embarrassing how much this game misses the point of why the original game works...
~
Not a whole lot of gaming since my last entry, but I think that mainly has to do with the second game listed below.
-GAMES-
Rogue Legacy: As mentioned elsewhere, I originally purchased this back in 2013, thinking my super old computer (it didn't even have PCIe slots) was easily capable of running the game. It could not. It ran in slow-motion. So it sat in my Steam library for two and a half years, until I finally bought a new desktop and remembered this was something I bought. After doing nearly back to back reviews for Witch & Hero and Aquatic Long Name, I wanted to just play a game without prepping a review for it.
Because 'Random Blog Entry' doesn't have a nice ring to it.
-There's a Raiden V.
-There's a console port of Raiden V... for the Japanese Xbox One. Let that sink in.
-There's a spiritual successor to the Wonder Boy Monster Land/World games, which is even made by their original creator, called Monster Boy. Here's a trailer with a super upbeat Japanese song.
Happy New... Hmm.
Been meaning to make a new blog entry for the past few weeks, but always held off. The reason being: moved into a new place, and it literally took an entire month for it to happen! The moment I woke up everyday, I had to slowly juggle moving everything out and into the new place, all before heading to work, so by the time I had some free time at night, all I wanted to do was rest.
I did manage to squeeze in a few games to review, along with some other stuff after most of the moving was done, which I'll talk about below.
-GAMES-
Now with additional garlic.
Well, this is likely the last blog entry I'll make in 2015, and as I look back, it has been my weakest year in a long time in terms of writing reviews. For the past few years, I've made it a personal challenge to write more than 20 reviews per year, but as I'm writing this, I've only written 17 so far. 18 in total, since I'm in the midst of playing a game (which has been surprisingly longer than I expected...) I'll be reviewing before the month is over.
At least that's what I'm seeing....

Not to mention the previous six movies. I almost wrote that last sentence in the header, but even that would have been a spoiler in itself.
Super brief review: it was fun, even if it was a bumpy ride sometimes. The first 10, 15 minutes alone destroy the prequel trilogy. Maybe I'll go into detail in a later blog entry.
.............
Well, since I obviously want to talk about the new 007 film so badly, the movie section comes first!
-MOVIES-
Spectre (spoilers, spoilers everywhere): While I wasn't exactly hyped for the film... mainly because I forgot it was coming out this weekend, I thought it could have been a fun watch in the theaters, especially since Sam Mendes returns as director. As I was sitting in the theater watching the movie, and before the credits sequence popped up, I started feeling as if something was off. The opening sequence started off promising with an impressive continuous shot, but it quickly devolved into a nonsensical, weirdly-directed helicopter fight with a flaccid climax. I let it slide, though, thinking they can't possibly all be impressive openers.
