After a while the battles can get long and tedious, but fortunately it has enough gruesome FMV cutscenes to leave you gasping for more. The game doesn't have many extras; it's pretty straightforward.

The whole time Aya scours a given area, she'll need to be on her guard because... well, scratch that. Even if she's on her guard, she'll still discover the joy of random encounters. Now, don't get me wrong. I like unexpected opportunities to shoot down creatures of the night as much as the next guy (or blast them with my special attacks), but here the whole process just feels odd.

It's the night before Christmas, and the visage of the Statue of Liberty is solemn. A panning camera slides briefly across the New York cityscape, but pauses to contemplate this peculiarity. A sparse snow is falling, and Liberty's lips are puckered in a pout, her head tilted downward looking worryingly at the ever-present hustle below, a thin blotch cascading from the melancholy right eye and down the cheek. Is it a tear?
