Staff review by Marc Golding (January 14, 2004) Outside on the streets, dark and fog is everywhere, snow will fall suddenly and then just as suddenly cease. Then it's back to textured blackness, worse than complete dark because of what the varying shades might conceal. You'll have to rely on your ears for sounds of unearthly growls and flapping wings that reveal the carnivorous canines and winged demons that seek you out. |

Staff review by Rob Hamilton (November 22, 2006) The fog-shrouded town is infested with all sorts of things that go bump in the night and Harry’s not exactly the ideal monster-slayer — being a bit clumsy and not a particularly sharp marksman. And whenever he starts to feel secure that he’s on top of things, his surroundings tend to get a bit askew. With loud clangings and bangings, the foggy surroundings melt away, leaving Harry in a dark, hellish world surrounded by rusty metallic walls. |

Reader review by JoeTheDestroyer (October 14, 2011) But when a well made horror game beckons you to advance further, dread replaces your enthusiasm. You wonder at what traps could be waiting, or what new grotesque menace could be lurking in the shadows waiting to unzip your torso and feast on your corpse. You advance further, counting your ammunition and health restoration items and hoping it will be enough. |

Reader review by tomclark (March 06, 2004) What was that noise? It could have been a car backfiring in the street, but you think it seemed closer. Was that a creak on the stairs? Probably the wind in the trees outside, but you can't be sure. Hey, wasn't your door shut before? Now you're just being silly. Oh but look at you, you're very pale, you're jumping at the slightest thing, you're having sleepless nights... You've been playing Silent Hill again, haven't you.... |

Reader review by True (March 29, 2007) Everyone--to this day--compares Resident Evil to Silent Hill. Both surfaced around the same time, both games received enormous success with their original release and both brought the horror genre, at least for a time, into the spotlight. But in essence, comparing Resident Evil to Silent Hill is like comparing Dawn of the Dead to The Ring. Both are great in their own right, but one has a gore/survival feel to it, the other a haunting, psychological feel. In my opinion... |
