The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem is now available on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, publisher Outright Games announced today. Made in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the title is a party game in the style of classics like Mario Party.
Players can choose from favorite characters such as Thing 1, Thing 2, Little Cat A, Sally, and Johnny. Then they team up with the Cat in the Hat and the cautious Fish for antics of the sort you already expect if you're familiar with the book. And you probably are, because The Cat in the Hat dates all the way back to 1957. That's staying power!
According to the press release, The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem lets players go it alone, or compete locally with three other players, which should be perfect for small families gathered around the television screen. Or for your kids and their friends.
As players spend time with the game, they'll earn points and complete an in-game sticker collection. Along the way, they'll access up to 18 minigames built for players of all ages. Simple controls should streamline the process for newer players, and adjustable difficulty settings will manage a challenge for players who hate it when a game goes easy on them.

"We're thrilled to bring The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem to families around the world," said Robin Flodin, CEO of Outright Games. "The game captures everything that makes the Cat in the Hat so special - imagination, laughter and a little bit of chaos - while creating a new way for players to experience this much-loved story together."
Besides the minigame fun, players will also enjoy a literary classic. The press release mentions that a fully narrated version of The Cat in the Hat book is included within the game. Now, instead of simply listening to the tale, young gamers can play along.
The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem is available now with an MSRP of $39.99 USD on the various platforms. I didn't have any luck finding it on the PlayStation Store, but I imagine that's a temporary oversight.
Look at me, imagining things. I haven't even bought the game and it's already enriching me!
