I thought I would have a hell of a time getting through Phantasy Star II. It kicked my ass two times before, and it tried to do so again. However, I didn't waiver. I stayed the course, fought hard, took advice from everyone on here (thank you all again!) and managed to power my way through it. It was ultimately fulfilling.

Hell, even when Sekiro took the wind out of my sails dozens of times, I never really contemplated throwing in the towel. I made idle threats, but knew I would never let myself give up.

Right now, though, I'm considering if I even want to keep going with my current playthrough of Blue Dragon, and this game is in no way, shape or form in the same league of difficulty as the last two games I mentioned. It's boring, overly simple and the characters are obnoxious. As I've stated before, Marumaro is the worst offender, as he yell-whines every line.

Nearly everything this game does puts me to sleep. Its battle system is straightforward, which isn't necessarily bad. However, the enemies you face are all pretty weak and fall easily. Half of the time, I ask most of my party to defend while my black mage hits the enemies with a multi-target spell that wipes them all out. I've even begun avoiding battles because I'm tired of cutting through everything.

You get multiple classes to assign, each with special skills that you can mix and match, thus creating cobbled classes. However, you only receive the most basic jobs you find in almost any game: a warrior, a monk, a white mage, a black mage, a thief and a support mage. Only two classes really stand out: one that uses barrier magic and another called a "generalist" that allows you to use extra skills and accessories. Obviously, this one is a must for crossover creations.

None of this really matters, because even bosses die in mere minutes. I have yet to come across a storyline enemy that even comes close to defeating me. The best any of them have managed is temporarily knocking out one of my mages, and one of those times was only because a boss landed a crit.

The story is nothing special. Generic kids chase after a generic villain. This game is basically Final Fantasy V, except not fun.

We'll see if I continue playing. I hope to get a lot of progress done within the next few days, and maybe even scratch this off my list. Afterward, I'll probably look into either selling or trading this one off.
