Only a small one, but, still.
Both of the people keeping up with these blogs may nave noticed the reoccuring theme of my Oblivion addiction (some three years late) and will have seen my playthrough come to a crashing halt after I found myself locked out of a quest-vital object. This drove me to go away and play other games for a while, Like Ninja Gaiden II and Blue Dragon.
The former kicked my arse and the latter is so bland that I need to invent a new word to convey this blandness. This word is Blandonous. I also borrows GTA4, bu I've spent years scoffing at GTA games and it's hard to change this mindset, even if I've enjoyed the couple of hours I've put in.
I decided to have a little look and see when my last backsave was and was happy to see one only about an hour behind the quest I was unfairly halted at, so I went back in -- and I went back in pimped up, yo. This time I charged my lightening blade so that the monsterous ogres would die quicker (and I love that a killing blow from my awesome sword sends the hulking bastards flying, twitching as they soar). Through the ruins I went, trying to draw the ogres away from groups and take them one-on-one. It's painstaking at times, but a group is bloody tough to deal with.
There are a lot of ogres.
I'd killed the first three (only two stand in your way initially, but one a distance off must have heard me or seen me from afar somehow and ran the entire length of the ruins to try and kill me. Nice to be wanted) and got back to the sealed gate. The problem I had with the gate last time is that it didn;t want to open and I assumed the trigger was apressure pad that sat just before it. like last time, I trod on the pad and..... nothing. There was much swearing. Then I looked up. There was a walkway above my head.
Bringing up the map showed it connecting up with a passageway a little to my left that I had completly overlooked the first time somehow. I killed the ogre that was in my way, explored and found a button. Gates open, mission complete, handful of hours wasted.
I'm now right on the verge of completing the Fighter Guild arc -- the mission after the ogres was hard as all the mercs in the cave you needed to go into wore buffed armour. The up point is I've now pinched half of it and am decked out in uberwear.
So, there's the shocker. Even I make mistakes.

Cool, though. I think Nord is one of the best classes, but I prefer Argonians... Mostly for the challenge and because I like their water breathing ability. I'm not sure if that'll be as useful in Oblivion, though.
I also like to customize my classes rather than pick from a list... Makes things more fun.
