Hideo Kojima talks Metal Gear Solid 5 plans in Official PlayStation Magazine [Update]
Update Nov. 21, 2011: OPM continued teasing its interview with Hideo Kojima, offering some more details on its conversation with the Metal Gear creator. It turns out Mr. Kojima didn't really confirm that Metal Gear Solid 5 is in fact being made. Instead, he simply admitted that “we’ll probably have to make it at some point. But what that will be, we have no idea.” He also mentioned, as he usually does, that he wouldn't want to get involved in the project. So I guess we can say MGS5 isn't a thing yet, but it probably will be a thing "at some point." Konami does like money, after all, right?
Though he's tried his best to get away from the series for years now, it looks like Hideo Kojima
will be working might or might not end up working on Metal Gear Solid 5, according to Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
An interview with Kojima is set to be published in the magazine's 65th issue, in which he'll discuss his plans for MGS5 and another project currently known as "Project Ogre." He'll also dish the scoop on Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the first Metal Gear project he isn't leading (and recently had a producer change).
That's all the magazine has let slip so far. The issue hits physical and digital shelves on Nov. 29.
It'll be interesting to read what the man has to say about Solid Snake's next adventure -- that's if Solid Snake is even a part of it. A scan from the magazine shows Kojima being quoted saying, "Snake was supposed to die." If Snake did die, who takes the helm as the series' protagonist? Could it be Raiden, even though he's got his own game in the works? Or will this next iteration go back in the prequel direction, putting players in the shoes of the original Snake, Big Boss? Will Kojima be writing and directing this one? Or will someone else finally take the reigns from him?
We'll keep the vicegrips on our eyelids for more MGS5 information for you. 'Til then, feel free to speculate below!
Note: The above screenshot is obviously not a screenshot of Metal Gear Solid 5.
