I've played four hours of Demon's Souls so far and finally beat the first boss. Which, I suppose once I figured out what I was doing and quit making stupid mistakes throughout the level, wasn't too bad. But now I'm afraid for the real challenge, since I've long heard of this game's legendary difficulty.
I decided to go with a standard knight build (or whatever variation of that I perceive it to be) where I'll focus on Vitality, Endurance and Strength. Because, you know, I'm especially bad at dodging and figured I'd give myself as much of an advantage as possible. I hope it'll see me to the end, but after reading (or re-reading since it's been a while) reviews of the game, I'm expecting to face some ridiculously challenging boss fights. That's fine, though; I'd wanted to test myself for a while.
So far the only real complaint I have is the camera, which, for a game that emphasizes difficulty and requires precision with its game mechanics in order for you to succeed, seems like an oversight. But I suppose as long as I avoid tight corners I'll be okay (though I've seen plenty of those already).
Wish me luck, I guess. I may blog about this as I continue this adventure, sporadic as it may be. I usually only play once or twice a week now.
