Atlus releases Gungnir to keep PSP SRPG fans busy
Gungnir, the latest SRPG published by Atlus, is available now for PSP.
Atlus today released Gungnir, also known as "That Strategy RPG for PSP That I'd Very Much Like to Play Sometime in the Near Future." I think my title is better, especially if they went with a suitable font, but Atlus seems to be of the mind that shorter is better. Whatever.
Gungnir is developed by Sting, well known for its work on plenty of other recent RPGs of Atlus-published-ness (collectively known as the "Dept Heaven" series). You can either purchase a retail copy of the game or download it on the PlayStation Network later today. Atlus expects the latter version to be compatible with the PlayStation Vita, but we'll have to wait until after today's PlayStation Store update to see.
"The Dept Heaven series of RPGs and SRPGs stands as a pillar of innovation and risk-taking, not to mention tremendous visual design in game development," commented Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "With Gungnir, developer Sting continues their proud tradition of beautifully rendered character sprite work, lush backgrounds, intricate user interface design, and core game mechanics that are accessible for newcomers but endlessly rewarding for experienced players who opt to invest the time necessary for mastering the game's tactical battles. Fans of the genre looking for a sweeping narrative, substantial SRPG gameplay, and yet another visually stunning Dept Heaven presentation need not look further!"
I like to imagine that rather than typing all of that out and sending it along to the person in charge of the press release, he literally spoke those words into a voice recorder without taking a breath, then transcribed everything and finally passed out from a lack of oxygen. That probably did not actually happen, however.
Gungnir is available right now and retails for $29.99. You can check out the official Gungnir site if you'd like even more information than this thrilling news article has provided.
