So the new trailer for that Sonic movie is out and it was pretty much as I expected it to be. Uninspiring. I never had high expectations to begin with after Paramount showed that creepy "motion teaser" thing last year, and I am confident to say this movie has ended before it even began anyway. I already had my reservations on the awful look of what is supposed to be the blue blur therefore I tried to ignore that part of the trailer as it unfolded on my eyes. Most of the footage reminds me of ANOTHER movie that came out years ago with the same premise of an otherworldly animal hopping to our reality and finding a hapless human being who decides to help him in any other way for the sake of the movie's plot. Hop. That movie was not exactly memorable for anything worthwhile as this trailer is demonstrating years later. For hell's sake, there's even a scene where Sonic drums about a barrage of rockets just like in Hop with an actual drum set. Is this some sort of shoutout to badly done movies of yesteryear?
The trailer also shows other not so subtle references to anything else prior to this film, such as Sonic muttering "gotta go fast" which is of course, the title of a very awful themesong in the English localized Sonic X, something that does not help me as I kept watching this trailer. Sonic speeds on about making corny jokes, one liners, puns, all while destroying machines created by Eggman, played by Jim Carrey and acting more like Jim Carrey than any incarnation of Eggman/Robotnik you ever remember whereas in a cartoon or a game. His looks as I said before are a far way from what he looks in other media much less the game's original. However at the end of the trailer you get a glimpse of Carrey actually dressed up to look like the actual character, bald, obese, red nose, and a grandiose messy moustache, which makes me question the decision of him changing into something unrecognizable for other than Carrey probably protesting looking like Eggman than something he was comfortable with. I guess he wasn't going to repeat the same thing as he did on one of his most successful films, The Mask.
There is really nothing else noteworthy of this trailer, and adding "gangster's paradise" while it runs on did not helped me land much positives about it either. Is this supposed to be a parody? Is this serious on about what the movie is supposed to be about? A lot of questions more than answer which fans demanded when the first previews of this movie began and all not making this movie any favors.
As it is, I will consider this movie fit for younger audiences, which no doubt will enjoy the fuzzy Hedgehog bouncing about and even letting out a fart or two, because we all know family films must have toilet humor for kids to giggle about. Otherwise, I don't really see a reason why anyone older than 10 would ever bother wasting money on seeing it in theaters once it comes out. I will reserve this after it comes out as a rental or as a free copy from the library system as I said before. Even then I am not sure if I will ever sit through the entire thing to be honest.

I'm also wondering about the timing. Is Sonic's popularity at its peak? Aren't they like, 20 years late with this thing? It's like I'm sure they'll get the Uncharted movie out finally, in another decade.
Also, Sonic is clearly a gangsta, so the song fits.
