Rayman Legends is Wii U exclusive, lands this holiday
Ubisoft made the announcement at Gamescom today via a trailer.
Rayman Legends will be exclusive to Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console, and the game will be available this holiday season, according to a trailer of the game shown at Gamescom today, as reported by Joystiq. That's right: We don't know when the Wii U is landing, but we at least know it should be available by the holidays (if Nintendo, you know, wants you to be able to play Rayman Legends in the first place).
As Joystiq points out in its report, and as I noticed at E3 and another Wii U event a couple of months later, Legends goes really heavy on the Wii U Gamepad touch controls. Still, hearing a Rayman game is exclusive to one particular console is still kind of strange, considering nearly all its other installments have been multi-platform.
Nintendo must've obviously come to an agreement of some sort with Ubi for the Wii U exclusivity. What we don't know for sure is if Legends will end up being a timed exclusive, with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions to be released some time in 2013. Of course, Nintendo hopes Rayman fans won't hold out for such an announcement and buy a Wii U when, well, whenever it does launch.
Score one for Nintendo?
