About Me:

Sorry, but I haven't yet shared the information about myself that would typically display here. Check back later to see if that changes, or if I instead choose to remain an enigma.

Freedom!
November 22, 2007

I hope everyone's having a good Turkey Day. Hubby and I are getting ready to go over to my parents, bearing the results of my hard work last night.

I do love to cook, so I made Sweet Potato Rum Pie with Gingerbread-Walnut crust, and Sashanan's recipe for tzatziki, a Greek sauce with garlic and onions.

I'm also, of course, packing my DS and my game case. My parents want to watch movies - specifically, Live Free or Die Hard, Ratatouille, and Shrek the Third, all of which we've now watched multiple times. So.. a little progress on my games won't hurt. I'm in the mood to work on Luminous Arc for a bit today so I can easily split my attention between the movies and the game.

And if you're stateside.. enjoy the freedom of a day off of work/school/whatever - I know I am!

Broken DS photos.
November 20, 2007

First off, I have pictures of my busted DS. To the guys on here - please don't give me too much grief about the fake "stones" on it; I told you, I was sick of polar white and local stores don't offer much in the way of DS skins.

DS, looking somewhat intact.

Opened.. and the cracked piece fell off.

Yeah, I don't think I'm using this anymore. Despite the fact that it STILL POWERS ON.

The offending piece that broke originally.

And finally, just for fun:

Update to previous post.
November 15, 2007

My new DS is safely on its way and should be here before 3pm tomorrow.

I opened my old DS show my husband the cracked edge and the whole top half came loose. Guess it's a good thing I didn't try to use it tonight.

My boss has informed me that "I'm staying home tomorrow" since they've finally grasped that me being sick at work = NOT being productive and spending all my time on gaming sites or something, so at least I'll be here when my new toy arrives.

However, that also means that damage pics of the original one will have to wait until Monday. I won't forget though!

So now I'm going to go get some rest and play some PW on the hubby's DS. G'night!

When it rains, it pours.
November 15, 2007

I bought my DS Lite right after launch (one of the first shipments to our area). I'd heard of the problems they had with the hinges right out of the gate, but I've had mine for almost a year and a half now with no issues.

Yeah, right.

Last night, I flipped open my DS to play some Phoenix Wright before I went to sleep, and I heard a "crack".

The whole area where the power light is cracked and separated from the DS - breaking the hinge, rendering it barely able to open, and leaving circuits exposed. I was PISSED.

I mean, I've been horribly sick for over a week, and all I wanted to do was lay down and play my game in bed. And of COURSE it had to be the system I'm using the most right now! So I tried to figure out how to fix it.

Of DS and dementia...and first impressions.
October 31, 2007

Or should I say Dementium? I really didn't need to increase my DS backlog any further right now as I'm still working on:

A) Phoenix Wright: Trials & Tribulations
B) Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
C) New York Times Crosswords (so sue me, I'm a word puzzle geek too)
D) Castlevania: Dracula X (PSP)
E) Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, Misha's path (PS2)

Not to mention a whole host of other PS2, GC and Xbox games I picked up while Sashanan & another friend of mine were visiting this past August.

Phoenix Wright and the Complicated Playthrough
October 28, 2007

I've discovered that as much as I love to write FAQs, for some games it lowers the fun quotient when I try to write on the first playthrough. The problem is, however, for those of us who work full-time it's often hard to get a guide written before most sites are overloaded - for anything other than games destined for obscurity, that is.

And then of course, there's the tremendous pressure you are under to get the partial finished as soon as possible.

FIrst post here.
October 27, 2007

You know, I'd given permission for my guides to be put up here several months back, but I'd never really had the time to come LOOK at the place. I just went on .. well, I think it was Sash's... recommendation that this was a good site.

So I decided to submit my new work in progress the other day - a FAQ for Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations. And then I decided to actually LOOK at the site.

I must say I'm EXTREMELY impressed and I will be frequenting this site probably more than any of the others I visit at this time.
