About Me:

Sorry, but I haven't yet shared the information about myself that would typically display here. Check back later to see if that changes, or if I instead choose to remain an enigma.

Being sick = no time for updates.
February 21, 2008

Two weekends ago, it was a "lovely" case of the flu that my co-worker shared with the office. Thursday afternoon, she went home because she couldn't stay out of the ladies' room... by 4AM Friday morning I was down for the count all weekend. Well, aside from a brief trip out that Sunday to sign a lease on our new place. (Story on that in a second.)

So.. here it is.. another week.. and now I've got the cold/bronchitis that was being passed around. I have been off work all week, and the boss wants me to stay home until Monday. Blargh.

On the plus side, we got our state tax refund checks, and while we didn't go out for long, mostly just to cash said checks and get some more Gatorade.. we made one teeny-tiny little side trip.

Note to self:
February 04, 2008

Do NOT attempt to play WordJong while on pain medication.

Mom bought it for me tonight since I FINALLY found a copy but was totally broke. Ended up playing it for almost 3 hours straight. During that time, my Vicodin kicked in. So I found myself putting in random words.

Interesting to know that "piss" and variations thereof were acceptable, as was "bints" and "arse"...

I must say I'm addicted though, and if I wasn't ready to drop I'd still be playing. More on that later, now I'm getting a bit silly..

Officially confirmed: Fatal Frame 4 for the Wii!

*fangirl squeeing*

The rumor cemented my desire for a Wii but knowing it's been confirmed, AND that Nintendo's helping publish it.. well.. I'm beside myself. *dance*

Progress update.
January 27, 2008

Completed Flipside's Pit of 100 Trials fairly easily this time - I had a couple of attack up items and used them on Bowser, effectively kicking his attack through the stratosphere. My reward was a shitload of rare Pixl cards (each one in a chest, every tenth room) and a new Pixl companion, Dashell, who allows me to run a little faster. Woo. But for completion's sake I'm happy about it.

My treasures are up to 20 or 22 out of 48, and I'm just trying to figure out where to make a buttload of money fast so I can go buy more maps and finish that sidequest off. The recipes, I'm up to 22/96, but that shouldn't be hard to finish off.

Brief update.
January 25, 2008

First off, there's been a site passed around, Backloggery.com. It's basically an instrument for keeping track of a backlog, and it's kinda neat. I'm on there as siara79, as always, if anyone decides to friend me. If you do, please let me know. It doesn't tell you when someone adds you.

Second, I beat Super Paper Mario two nights ago. The ending wasn't bad for what the game offered. I spent my 999 coins and got the Tiptron from Francis, and then I promptly got my ass kicked in room 100 of the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials. I didn't even really plan on trying it, so I didn't have healing items. That'll teach me, eh? :P

So tonight, I watch Highlander.. tomorrow.. I attempt it again! Or tonight if I'm still awake after the movie. :)

The transition of Nightwish.
January 17, 2008

I first heard of Nightwish when the hubby and I rented the (awful, but better than House of the Dead) Alone in the Dark movie. There was a music video for the song "Wish I Had an Angel" in the special features section.. and the hubby and I were instantly smitten. Powerful female vocals paired with strong male vocals from a guy that resembled a Viking warrior, heavy but not distorted guitar, etc. Then I found their version of Phantom of the Opera, which cemented it. So for the last few years we've been collecting their CDs.

Hello, my name is siara79, and I have a problem.
January 14, 2008

The stereotype is that most women, when they go shopping to cheer themselves up, tend to go shopping for clothes/shoes/shiny things. Now.. while I like shiny things as much as the next female-type person, when I get depressed I shop for something else entirely. Video games!

If you can't guess, I'm having a rough week due to a nasty combination of work related stress and family (parental) related stress. So when I went to the mall tonight to get a classic controller for my new VC games, I ended up coming home with two other games.
