Rockstar Games today announced that Max Payne 3, previously set for a March 6 release, has been delayed. The third-person action title will bullet time its way to shelves for consoles on May 15 in North America and May 18 internationally. PC users will in North America will have to wait two weeks for a May 29 release and a June 1 international release.
The delay makes sense in more than one way for Rockstar: Their past two big releases, 2010's Red Dead Redemption and 2011's LA Noire, were released in May of their respective years, so that's one way. The other? Well, Max Payne 3's initial launch date, as previously mentioned, was March 6 -- also known as the day Mass Effect 3. I'm sure someone at Rockstar got a pat on the back for avoiding that sales battle.
One thing concerns me about all this, though. If Rockstar upholds this release-our-major-stuff-in-May thing, then I might have to wait until May 2013 to get my hands on Grand Theft Auto V, which, well, I kind of don't want to do. Y'know?
