Konami announced today that it will be publishing Zone of the Enders HD Collection in North America. The game, which includes HD-ified versions of two PlayStation 2 releases that were largely ignored but beloved by some, is scheduled to arrive sometime this Fall on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

When Zone of the Enders originally released, a lot of people bought it specifically because a demo for Metal Gear Solid 2 was included. A number of people tried the main game after they were done playing the demo repeatedly, but it seemed like just as many cast it aside. Then a sequel came and went with barely any fanfare at all, yet the series is still remembered fondly by those who fell in love with its mech-infused charm.

The bundle announced today includes both Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner in fully remastered form. Development is being handled by Kojima Productions, which seems to be the group responsible for most of Konami's successes these days.

"We are looking forward to bringing the legendary Zone of the Enders series to fans old and new in a high definition format with the Zone of Enders HD Collection," said Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

With all of these remasters being announced and released, one can't help but wonder if Castlevania and Contra collection announcements might lurk just around the corner.
