Music binge

By Jason Venter · October 8, 2006

Reading everyone's blogs has a very bad effect on me: I buy music. I know I haven't waited a month since my last blog post to make this one, as is my tendency, but I thought I'd give you all a chance to critique my latest music investment:

James Blunt (Back to Bedlam)
Alanis Morissette (Under Rug Swept)
Snow Patrol (Eyes Open)
Switchfoot (Nothing is Sound)
Weezer (Meladroit)

Depending on how well I like these CDs, I may get more stuff down the road. I have these periods where I'm interested in making improvements to my music library, and I seem to be right in the middle of one. Probably because I can listen to iTunes while doing web site work. Anyway, that's that.

You didn't get The Mars Volta's Amputechture because it was sold out, right?

Edit - And Eyes Open is pretty good despite what HATER OF AWESOME MUSIC Sportsman says.

Despite being a regular reader of various blogs, I have to confess that I have absolutely no idea what The Mars Volta's Amputechture is. That woule explain why I didn't pick it up.

And agreed on the Snow Patrol album... I'm really liking it as I listen to it this very minute.

It seems every single post I make inn blogs these days is to bash Volta so in this one, I'll simply point your torwards a song that it superior to all their works combined:

Here it is!

Snow Patrol's first album is MUCH better. Also get Weezer's Blue Album if you don't have it already; it's a must-have. And Pinkerton also if you a want a darker, but equally as rewarding album.

Sportsman means their 3rd album. Eyes Open is their 4th. Not 2nd.

Also, please look forward to Green Day's sophomore release, the follow up to their debut American Idiot.

Final Straw is the only one I own so that is the one I was talking about that's 8/10 quality. I don't follow the band so I'm not sure what number it is. I borrowed Eyes Open (their newest one, whatever number that it) from a friend and thought it was average at best.

Unfortunately American Idiot can be considered Green Day's first album, because it is a new beginning for them. That's not a good thing, though.
