Spider-Man: The Movie (Xbox) review

"Finally the wall crawling, web shooting, thug catching, super hero is back. Finally the wall crawling, web shooting, thug catching, super hero is back. Yes, straight from the movie theatres to the courtesy of your own home for the xbox, playstation 2, and the nintendo gamecube. And yes, i have played this game for all of the three consoles, and to my conclusion suggest that it is the best on the xbox system. This is because of xbox's superior graphics and power. Following the xbox i would have to say the gamecube, and then finally the ps2 just because of the playstations controller which makes the gameplay a real downside to the game.

So, you just couldnt get enough of spider-man huh? Well now its your turn to play out the movie, and take spidey into your own hands to kick some villian butt. I would have to say to all the spider-man lovers that this game is going to be a real treat. This game takes into account the happenings of the spider-man movie. You play a role of peter parker aka. spider-man to discover his uncles killer, and to restore peace from the green goblin.

STORYLINE - I truly believe that this game has a very good story line, and its cinematics can be truly related to the movie. It shows gamers peter parkers thoughts and how he relates to the game as it develops. The actual story line follows the movie good, just slightly different when it comes to some scenes/levels with the villian ''the shocker''. Overall the story line is great and will definatly bring spidey fans to the game.

GAMEPLAY - There are many issues that have to do with gameplay of this particular spiderman game. When you begin to play spiderman you must first do training which takes you to a ''fake'' city, where you get tutorials on how to carry out spidermans actions. You will learn here how to use your height meter, swing, zip, crawl, suspend, and beat the hell out of thugs. The actual gameplay itself is fun, but rather easy in my opinion. There are many web swinging levels outdoors which i find incredible, but the indoor levels are rather harsh in my opinion.

CONTROL - This game literally uses every button of your xbox controller to offer some of spidermans best abilities. The left D-pad or thumbstick is used to control spiderman and the right thumbstick is used to control the camera. The buttons are used for jumping, kicking, punching, and web attacks. The white button is used for targetting, and the L and R triggers underneath the controller are used for swinging and zipping. I find that controlling spiderman in this game is rather difficult espiecally when it comes to turning the character while moving the camera angle. I suggest that in future games the gamers wont have to worry about camera views and just concentrate on spidey :|

GRAPHICS - Spider-man graphics for the xbox are simply stunning. The X-chip made by microsoft and nvidia are a treat to all xbox gamers. When it comes to outdoor city swinging to indoor combot the graphics are simply stunning. Also the cinematic scenes between levels are very nicely done. The overall lag to the game is not very high, the only time where the game usually lags/stutters is right before spidey dies!

SOUND - I think that the sound to the game is well suited. You get background music for the game as well as peter parker talking to himself.. LoL. Also you get other effects just as where you swing down to city level and hear the spidey critics too. Overall i think the sound part of the game is very well done.

REPLAY - As far as playing this game twice, i wouldnt. But thats just my opinion. Im sure maybe many others would play this game again, but only one more time. Playing this game two or three times would definatly get boring, because of its simplicity. Perhaps turning it from easy to hard would help a little ;)

Overall I enjoyed playing this spider-man title and hopefully more of them could be released in the future. The movie definatly gave this game a jump-start but the actual game could of been enhanced in my opinion. Some setbacks were the changes from the movie, the swinging web coming out of the sky(LOL), and the arcade style combat. Although it was a bit too easy for me, i enjoyed it a lot and recommend it for renting. If you are a real spiderman fan, you will buy this game.

Another one which has issues with the scoring. 0/10 is not the correct score. Anyone wish to fix? I would guess from the review it's a 7 or an 8.
