Reviewed by ddsilver (November 01, 2004) The “Launch 20” for the Atari 2600 contained 5 sports titles (6 if you consider Flag Capture a sport). 25% of the initial release catalog was dedicated to sports gaming. That’s not a surprising number here in 2004. We can go back to the launches of the X-Box and Game Cube and see that sports game development was a highly discussed topic both pre and post-launch. Reviewed by JoeTheDestroyer (October 14, 2010) There's nothing complicated to the gameplay. You run to the other side and hit the button to shoot the ball. Do it from the right angle and it lands perfectly into the hoop. Miss and it bounces off and gives your opponent a chance to shoot. This game skips all the complicated BS of more sophisticated NBA games and goes straight for the throat. This one is more about being fast and aggressive. Reviewed by retro (October 31, 2003) Like all of the sports games for Atari 2600, Basketball is as basic as it can get. It looks absurd and it's terribly dated, but it can still be a little bit of fun, believe it or not. |
