... but damn I do have to give credit for fantastic art direction. I'd play it even through any griping I may have, simply because it's beautifully nostalgic.

Suskie - June 24, 2010 (11:32 PM) Yeah, I just saw this video earlier today and it really looks fantastic. Somehow Studio Ghibli's stuff just has a distinct look to it, you know? (Although I did get flashbacks of cel-shaded Link as soon as I saw the kid running. He has, like, the exact same animation.) I just hope this doesn't wind up being a generic JRPG, because the generic ones really bore the hell out of me. The combat doesn't look all that great from this trailer, but still, I'm optimistic. |

joseph_valencia - June 25, 2010 (07:14 AM) The graphics are nice, but I don't care for the Pokeman combat. I'm getting bad "Jade Cocoon" flashbacks. |

zippdementia - June 25, 2010 (08:51 AM) I would agree with those sentiments. I don't think this is the one to turn me on to RPGs again, even with how beautiful it is. But it's a step in the right direction. Sometimes, with all these super-realistic graphic endeavors, we forget how awesome simplicity looks. |

The upcoming Zelda is also a nice example of this approach. Simplicity and eye-catching colors are more impressive than "realism." |
