Completed Flipside's Pit of 100 Trials fairly easily this time - I had a couple of attack up items and used them on Bowser, effectively kicking his attack through the stratosphere. My reward was a shitload of rare Pixl cards (each one in a chest, every tenth room) and a new Pixl companion, Dashell, who allows me to run a little faster. Woo. But for completion's sake I'm happy about it.
My treasures are up to 20 or 22 out of 48, and I'm just trying to figure out where to make a buttload of money fast so I can go buy more maps and finish that sidequest off. The recipes, I'm up to 22/96, but that shouldn't be hard to finish off.
Card collection is at 76/256, but probably 16 or so more rare cards await me in the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials (I've gone through 20 rooms, netting me 2 cards, so I'm going to guess 7-8 more cards then for beating the bosses in the final room you get 8 more - all your character cards, essentially). Then it's just saving the money to buy a ton of catch cards and going hunting. :P
This is fun though because although there's a lot yet to do, it can be done in whatever order, whenever I feel like it. I'm determined to 100% it though simply because I know I can, with a little effort.
Purchased the original Paper Mario today for the VC, since that's the only one in the series I'd never played. I avoided it during the N64 era because I heard the title and figured it was stupid, not knowing it was the "spiritual successor" to Super Mario RPG. I think I'm going to have to rethink my strategy though as the first really big boss battle caused me issues. Still though, I see the influences from SMRPG & the impact on Thousand Year Door and SPM.
Backlogs ahoy! :D
(And I'd taken my own advice - now the games I have for the VC are listed under my collection here under their respective systems. So I may or may not have the carts for anything listed under those..)
