Grand Theft Auto III review (PS2)Reviewed on September 03, 2003It’s a dark night. People are still walking down the streets, hitting each other, swearing and stealing. You are driving a car you just stole from some old lady only moments ago. You speed into a back alley, get out of the car and climb the stairs to the top of the building. You look down at the brothel below on the other side of the busy street. You load your sniper rifle, zoom in and wait – you know your target. The door opens, and several mafia gang members with Uzi’s flank a bald man. You ai... |

Disney's Pinocchio review (GEN)Reviewed on September 01, 2003The Sega Genesis and the SNES seemed to be the platforms of choice for Disney game back then, as pretty much all Disney movies have had a game based on them on either systems. The Disney games at this time were not what they are today (i.e. kiddy), they were actually pretty good and fun (minus the Beauty and Beast games), any old-school gamer could tell it. This brings me to talk about the Pinocchio game, released in 1996. |

Taz-Mania review (GEN)Reviewed on September 01, 2003Good sidescrolling platformers weren't that hard to make back in time; take a friendly character, put him on a quest across the land, give him a few powers, add a couple of items here and there, put in some bosses... and there you go, you have your super platformer. Taz-Mania for the Genesis seems to have been made based on that model, and it is indeed a good game, although I'm not too sure whether or not Taz is a friendly character. |

DecapAttack review (GEN)Reviewed on September 01, 2003This game has a style similar to Earthworm Jim, without being better or worst. It all depends on your tastes. |

Disney's Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Quest review (GEN)Reviewed on September 01, 2003There are 2 games in the Beauty and the Beast franchise on Genesis, Belle's Quest and Roar of the Beast. Belle's Quest is the best of the 2 but it doesn't mean it's a good game. Not at all. |

Disney's Pocahontas review (GEN)Reviewed on September 01, 2003The Disney games are always impressive in both visual and audio but never really bring anything new when it comes to gameplay. I think I've played all of the Disney games on Genesis and Pocahontas was the last I played. It also was the best one, in both graphics/music and gameplay. It was a pretty good surprise. |

Madden NFL 2002 review (PS2)Reviewed on August 31, 2003I do some foolish things, I admit. Buying Madden 2002 the day Madden 2003 came out was a pretty foolish thing to do, but I had my reasoning. I want to review a lot of Playstation 2 games, and having a variety of sports games would have helped. Plus, I was able to buy four games for the price of Madden 2003, and I ended up getting it a few weeks later, anyways. I didn't expect Madden 2002 to compare favorably to Madden 2003, but it actually does, and in some aspects is actually a superior game. I... |

Legaia 2: Duel Saga review (PS2)Reviewed on August 31, 2003For those of you that have talked to me about video games for more than 10 minutes probably know by now, I consider Legend of Legaia to be one of the greatest video games of all time. I even place it number two in my all time greatest video games list, behind only the equally great RPG Final Fantasy VII. It was a truly special game, with awesome battles, a very unique and fun magic system, and an original storyline with 3 of the best characters ever. |

Final Fantasy X review (PS2)Reviewed on August 31, 2003The Final Fantasy series has been out for many years now, spanning many different platforms, and it has turned into one of the most beloved and revered video game series to ever grace the planet. It has certainly become one of my favorite game series, if not my favorite, and has become a series that all role playing games wish to become one day. Every game has been hyped and for the most part always delivers. Amazing that such a last gasp effort from a guy about to be broke turned into the most ... |

Dragon Warrior III review (GBC)Reviewed on August 31, 2003The Dragon Warrior series has long been one of the more underappreciated and undervalued series.. in America. As most of us know by now, it is a huge deal in Japan. However, many people in America love this series, as well, despite the fact 5 and 6 never came out in America for some unknown reasons. So, Enix decided to port over some Dragon Warrior games for the Game Boy... and they chose the first 3. Now, 4 is one of the best NES games ever, and 5 and 6 never came out in America, while the firs... |

Metroid Fusion review (GBA)Reviewed on August 31, 2003When Metroid came out for the NES way back in the ancient days when 8 bit graphics were considered cool, I was enamored with the unique type of gameplay it featured. Sure, the game was mighty challenging due to the lack of a map feature and the fact that 90 percent of the rooms looked exactly like one another minus the different color schemes, but most of the fun and intrigue came from mapping out the areas by yourself and then collecting items that would help you get from Point A to Point B. Su... |

Blaster Master 2 review (GEN)Reviewed on August 31, 2003The original Blaster Master was one of the defining moments of the early-generation NES. Featuring all the qualities needing to be a terrific video game, it is still one of my favorite video games of all time. Of course, like a majority of all video games, it had one problem. |

Streets of Rage 2 review (GEN)Reviewed on August 31, 2003There has not exactly been a lack of beat-em-up side scroller games released over the years. Despite the dwindling popularity of the classic genre, the SNES and Genesis had a ton of great ones to choose from. One of the better known (and highly rated) ones was a Genesis game called Streets of Rage 2. Almost everyone I talk to makes it seem like an extraordinarily fun beat-em-up game with tons of innovative features. |

Oregon Trail review (PC)Reviewed on August 31, 2003There are some games that we played as kids that we'll never forget. Oregon Trail is one of those games for me. What kid who grew up in the 80's/90's hasn't at least seen someone playing this game at school? I spent many a day in elementary school playing this classic. It was educational, but you wouldn't know it, because this game is just SO much fun to play. I seriously had a blast every time when I fired up Oregon Trail, and it's a game that requires brain as well as brawn to win. |

NHL FaceOff '97 review (PSX)Reviewed on August 31, 2003It's always hard for me to justify giving high scores to old sports games -- not talking about classics like Tecmo Super Bowl, of course, but games in a series, like Madden 95, or NBA Live 96. Not because they're not fun, but because the later games in the series are SO much better, and there's no reason to actually play the game in question when there's so many other games in the series to choose from. |

Activision Classic Games review (PSX)Reviewed on August 31, 2003Activision Classics is a great game. There, I got that out of my system. The thing about the game is that it is not just one game. It is many games put into one. In fact, it is 30 of the most classic Activision games ever, put onto one disc for the Sony Playstation. I think this was a great idea that was actually done pretty well. The only main complaint I have was all the loading times that accompained the disc, but those were to be expected. It just felt a little unusual seeing all those loadi... |
