The Last of Us story details emerge

The Last of Us image

Recently announced at Spike TV's Video Game Awards, The Last of Us is the next big game from Naughty Dog, creators of the Uncharted franchise. From the trailer, not much could be gleaned but that it was about a man and a young girl trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. However, Sony has released a bit more info that some may find of interest.

In the world of The Last of Us, mankind has been devastated by some as-of-yet unexplained plague. In the midst of this, a man named Joel and Ellie, a brave teen, try simply to survive.

However, they aren't the only ones trying to get by in a world returning to nature. Without the rule of law, many survivors resort to killing each other for food and supplies. Joel and Ellie are far from safe.

Of the game, Naughty Dog's Co-President, Evan Wells, said, "Naughty Dog's mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry."

The Last of Us will combine survival and action, though what all that might entail is still unclear. Though many details about the game remain unknown, Naughty Dog is sure to bring their commitment to presentation and storytelling to the experience. After a series as popular as the Uncharted trilogy, expectations are rather high.

As the game was only barely revealed, it may still be a while before even a projected release date is announced. In the meanwhile, Naughty Dog fans can always replay Uncharted 3.
