Special Edition Zelda 3DS Should Have Been In My Hands Months Ago
Nintendo is going all out with their 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Legend of Zelda franchise. With Skyward Sword releasing in two weeks, you'd think that would be the end of it.
Nintendo is going all out with their 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Legend of Zelda franchise. With Skyward Sword releasing in two weeks, you'd think that would be the end of it.
Not so. Today Nintendo announced a spiffy new 3DS bundle for Europe with a special edition 3DS system. As you can see, the unit is black, with a gold border featuring Link's ocarina from Ocarina of Time and harp from Skyward Sword, and a gold Hyrulean Royal Crest in the lower center.
Naturally, a copy of the fantastic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is included, in a special double-sided game sleeve. (One side features the original Ocarina of Time 3D European box art while the other shows the gold-themed North American art.) It sounds like the bundle will not include Link's Awakening DX or either of the NES Zelda Virtual Console games, however. A missed opportunity!
Europe gets the bundle on November 25th, with no news of a North American release. The region-locked nature of 3DS games might make importing more trouble than it's worth.
