Good review. The recap makes sense to me in the review as it's written. And the length is fine because of the change of pace mid-way. I suppose some might struggle with it, because it seems indirect and brief with some of the descriptions - that might be something to latch onto; the explanation might be that it's not getting to the point very quickly, and then boils off slowly towards the end. I think the content and structure is good, though. But a way to focus on what the game attempts, and then switching gears and dedicating only paragraphs following each other when explaining the game's flow and mechanics might make it easier to read... if you're skimming through ;).

Remember playing it when it came out on PC. Max Payne came out a bit before it, along with that mercenary shooter of some sort by the Crytec people. Also, Deus Ex, American McGee's Alice, Soul Reaver 2 was very close. So it kind of seemed like a title that turned up because everyone else was making a game like it. But that it wasn't very good either with the graphics, or the fighting mechanics.. And then I played it, and enjoyed cutting people to shreds, feeding my inner sadist, just like you said.

..it wasn't a very good game, though :D
