So, next week or the week after, I'll have a review for Kemco's Asdivine Menace up and that will probably be the end of their mobile stuff being a focus for me, at least for some time. I'll likely play one here and there AND since my tablet is useful to have on the road, I can see me working on one off and on, hoping I can remember what I'm doing because it's been 17 days since I last played whatever I'm playing on it.
The reasoning is complex and will likely be taking up a good portion of the Asdivine Menace review, but in short: the games are short and derivative and it's damn hard to keep finding new ways to say the same thing. Besides, I have a lot of good stuff in my backlog that I want to get go, so focusing on Kemco is detracting from time I could spend focusing on them.
To put it simply: I play four games at once now (a far cry from the double-digits I had going on at once a couple years ago). It was one 360 game, one ROM, one Kemco game and one from any of PS/PS2/Wii/DS/3DS/Steam. Now, it's one 360, one ROM and two from any of PS/PS2/Wii/DS/3DS/Steam/Kemco WITH Kemco stuff maybe getting worked on from time to time when I'm on the road with the tablet. More focus on bigger, better games. After finishing Menace, instead of moving on to the next Kemco game, I moved on to Ocarina of Time 3D. That's a bit of a step up! And on line with stuff like GTA V and Mega Man Anniversary Collection and Warioland: Super Mario Land 3 as stuff I actually want to play, instead of this "meh, decent way to unwind late at night" half-hearted "want to play", I at least half-convinced myself that Kemco games are.
So, you'll still get blessed with the occasional Kemco review. But instead of them being roughly half my content in a given year, they'll be a tiny portion of what I do.
And that concludes this public service announcement.
