Final Fantasy Adventure
It's actually kinda amazing how many times I put this game on the back burner, came back to it, abandoned it, came back again, etc. before finally beating it. When I got towards the end where you talk to the girl for the last time, I had to laugh because I'd named her after my wife at the time. It's been 2+ years since we've been split and we'd been on the rocks for a good year or so before that, so it had to have been 3-4 years back when I started this one.
And it's finally done and over with now! Hurray for me!!!

In my case, I can happily say I was intelligent enough to never actually sign anything official. Then, when our five years came to a bitter close, it was as simple as breaking each other's hearts and walking our separate ways. No legalities involved. But then, I don't believe in legal marriage.
On the plus side, it is a damn good feeling to beat a game you've been going at for years, isn't it? I did that with Persona 3 two years after starting it and, damn, it felt epic.
Probably the biggest for me was Odin's Sphere, which I similarly started back when I was in the midst of partnership and did not end (after restarting it, I might add) until a few months ago. Hell, she bought it after we broke up and beat it before I did.
I'm trying to think if there's one to beat that. I have a feeling there was some RPG I put down for years and then came back and beat... I know the original Kingdom Hearts had a gap. If I ever find my FF8 save and decide I hate myself with a passion, I may finish that, that would be something like an eight year break. I also have had Dragon Quest VIII on the back burner for about... three years now... and Persona 4 for about a year. Radiata Stories, too. About a year.
