Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution set to offer history and mechs in early 2025
Napoleon was famous, but we might remember him even more if there were mechs.
Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution, an alternate history title from Studio Imugi, is headed to Steam in early 2025. The game blends a French Revolution setting with mechs, to potentially create the next must-play strategy title.
If you're like me, you've never heard of Studio Imugi. That might be due to the fact this is the first game the team of developers has produced under that name, but you may have played some past games from key team members. Studio Imugi is comprised of talent from both Kitfox Games (Wuthering Waves) and Sabotage (The Messenger).
In Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution, players assume the role of either Céline or César Bonaparte, who a press release describes as "a young military officer who leads a revolutionary movement in a monarchy on the verge of collapse." That sounds good to me!
In the alternate version of history where this particular game takes place, the usual turn-based battles and conflict and political wrangling are joined by steam-powered mechs called Colossi. They hit hard, but you'll have to rely on valor and cunning to win the day.
"Bonaparte’s presentation of alternate history is accentuated by its unique approach to the strategy genre," promises today's press release. "Mirroring the consequences of political action, players can see policy play out in real time on the battlefield."
Again, it sounds good to me. If you're intrigued and would like to learn more about the game, make sure to check out the official Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution listing on Steam.
