Empire of Angels IV finally brings the series to consoles after 28 years
The fourth installment in the series is available on PS4 and Xbox One today, with a Switch release following tomorrow.
Empire of Angels IV, the fourth installment in an SRPG series that dates way back to 1993 on PC, is available starting today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will also hit the Nintendo eShop tomorrow, June 24.
Developed by Softstar and published by EastAsiaSoft, Empire of Angels IV tells the history of Asgard with a clean slate, meaning you can jump into that world without prior knowledge of past installments. The publisher promises "fantasy-themed political intrigue" but also "slice-of-life humor, alluring designs and the ability to shatter your all-female opponents' armor!"
So yes, there is some fan service, but only of the T for Teen variety.
The story introduces the Namtar Investigation Team as it patrols Asgard and works to maintain order in the face of a plague that inspires good-hearted people to commit acts of mindless violence. When a legion captain named Niya sees a shining orb fall from the sky, her understanding is called into question and she must team with new friends as she embarks on a world-spanning mission to discover the truth behind pretty much everything.
Softstar appears to be a Chinese developer, so the characters are fully voiced in Chinese and there is English text support so you can enjoy the tale even if you're foreign language skills are lacking.
Empire of Angels IV is offered with an MSRP of USD $19.99 or equivalent, and looks like it could be a decent way to keep yourself entertained with strategic fare if you've moved on from the likes of Disgaea and Fire Emblem. Are you intrigued?
