Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is finally set to arrive on PS5 starting August 24, 2021, publisher CI Games announced today. The game arrived on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC earlier this month.

According to CI Games, sales for the game have already exceeded the series' previous iteration by 170% during the first ten days, which seems like quite the feat. Maybe gamers are just really, really in the mood for some creative headshots these days.

On PS5, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will make use of the Dualsense adaptive triggers, which supposedly enable each weapon to have its own distinct feeling. Additionally, there are improved load times from the SSD, upgraded textures and visuals, and the increasingly standard ability to play in two modes: performance (60fps at 2K resolution) or visual (30fps, but in gorgeous 4K).

If you'd rather not wait to start playing the game and you have a PS4, know that you can also buy that version of the game and will receive a free digital upgrade to the PS5 edition on August 24. That's true whether you buy the digital or physical edition.

"We're thrilled with the response from fans so far," noted Tobias Heussner of CI Games, "and can't wait for PS5 players to experience Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2. With adaptive trigger functionality, enhanced textures and visuals, and faster SSD loading times, there's a lot to look forward to as we move closer to the PS5 launch."

In the "more good news" category, the game's first major DLC release is also on the way and free of charge on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC and of course PlayStation 5. It features a "brand new and extensive region," which includes additional objectives and contracts. CI Games plans to reveal more on that front in the near future.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is available to preorder from retailers for $39.99 USD (or similarly pricing in other regions), and the digital version hits on launch day. From the sound of things, it could be a terrific way to tend to any sniping needs you might have in your life.
