Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1 will unite two PS2 classics on Switch and PC
The console version's Limited Edition is available for preorder today and loaded with goodies.
Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1, a JRPG compilation for Nintendo Switch and PC that brings together two Nippon Ichi Software titles originally released on the PlayStation 2, will arrive later this year for both platforms. The Nintendo Switch edition launches first.
Included in the package are Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered, as well as Soul Nomad & the World Eaters. Both feature that certain Nippon Ichi Software vibe that is difficult to define. Phantom Brave closely resembles the Disgaea series, but ditches the strict grids in favor of looser range of movement indicators. Soul Nomad & the World Eaters more closely resembles something like classic Ogre Battle, with a darker tone and unconventional mechanics our critic didn't love at the time of its release..
NIS America promises the package will include unique gameplay mechanics, memorable characters, up-scaled artwork and all DLC that was made available for the original releases (though they're both old enough that you shouldn't expect tons of it). I don't recall there even being any horse armor!
If you're already convinced this could be the package for you, as I am on my own behalf, then the Limited Edition may be of interest. It contains:
I was literally thinking only just last night that NIS America hadn't paid proper attention to Soul Nomad & the World Eaters in quite some time, so I'm quite pleased to see that changing. And since the title suggests there might be a second volume in the works, maybe Makai Kingdom and La Pucelle Tactics could come to us next?
