A new simulation/tycoon game is on its way to PC gamers in 2021, and its title is City Block Builder. Designed by Tentworks Interactive, a studio formed in Bangalore, India in 2018, the title looks to capture the glitz and glamor of 1950s Los Angeles as you help a young entrepreneur build a business empire.

As glamorous eras go, the 50s are hard to top, and Los Angeles is a city that's hard to beat. World War 2 has only recently concluded, and people are living it up as they enjoy the world's finest cuisine, dive into pop culture we still haven't forgotten about in 2021, and shop at designer shops.

Your job is to bring all of that to the consumers who will make you wealthy, and you'll bring a hands-on approach to the affair. You can micromanage each business, and there's quite the variety of establishments to open: cinemas, restaurants, bowling alleys, jazz clubs, parlors and more.

"Select which movies play when at your theatre," suggests today's press release. "Decide what food goes on your menu; book bands to play at your nightclub! You have full control of each business, from its layout, to its furniture and lighting, to ensuring the entrance makes optimal use of foot traffic in your bustling borough!"

The game features hand-drawn art, referencing movies, posters, comic books, and advertisements that circulated all those decades ago. Attention to detail sounds quite impressive.

"With City Block Builder we wanted to both pay tribute to our favorite city building and tycoon games as well as show the world what India has to offer in the exciting world of game development," said Jay Basani, CEO of Tentworks Interactive. "We are excited to see how the players from around the world will use their wits to tackle any challenge that gets thrown at them. Welcome to the glamorous world of City Block Builder, we hope you enjoy it when it comes to PC later this year!"

I have to admit: I do rather like the 50s and their ideallic mix of culture and industry. It will be interesting to see if City Block Builder is able to capture that and present it in a way that feels authentic while also providing a pleasant gaming experience. What do you think? Can you see yourself managing the LA block?
