Darksiders II delayed to August 2012

Death is a planning to arrive a little later than expected.

Previously slated for a June 2012 release, THQ announced today that Darksiders II will be pushed back a month and release in August 2012 instead.

The publisher says the game has nothing to do with recent layoffs at the studio; they just need a little more time to make Darksiders II a bit better, they say.

"[The delay] allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting," wrote THQ on the official Darksiders II website.

They also made sure to note the delay has nothing to do with the Wii U's yet-to-be-revealed release date. No mention was made of the company's previously reported promise of Darksiders II being a day one title for Nintendo's new console, so we can only assume this remains unchanged.

THQ has been in deep trouble lately, not sure if this game will pull them above water, and delays certainly aren't a good sign.
