An American research engineer and author named John Beiswenger is suing both Ubisoft and Game Trailers, claiming the story of Assassin's Creed is too similar to his novel, Link, to be a coincidence.

Beiswengers book came out in 2002, five years before the first Assassin's Creed game, and features a machine that can allow people to relive their ancestor's memories, much like the Animus in the Assassin's Creed series.

Beiswenger also claims that both his book and the game reference assassins and assassinations, the Garden of Eden and its forbidden fruit, and "the battle between good and evil." Seriously.

Beiswenger is seeking up to $5.25 million from Ubisoft and Game Trailers. Why Game Trailers? For hosting trailers of the game, of course. Nobody tell him they're also on YouTube. You can check out the case documents here.
