Borderlands 2 gets 'mechromancer' class, character customization

If you've got a fetish for animated, half-human half-machine people, then Borderlands 2's newly announced mechromancer class might be something you'll want to perk up those ears for.

If you've got a fetish for animated, half-human half-machine people, then Borderlands 2's newly announced mechromancer class might be something you'll want to perk up those ears for.

As Game Informer reports, Gearbox Software announced the new class (pictured above) at their PAX panel yesterday, though the studio didn't have anything to say about it; the class has yet to be developed, and it'll be available as post-launch DLC, free of charge to those who pre-order the title. Not pictured above is the mechromancer's robotic arm, which, y'know, would be the reason she's part mech.

Also announced: Borderlands 2 will feature character customization, which hopefully means that hulkish looking character won't have to sport that terrible, blue mohawk throughout the whole game. You won't be able to immediately adorn your character as you see fit, however; you'll have to earn your share of skins and gear. Players of the original Borderlands will automatically be rewarded with an exclusive head and skin, though.

Finally, Gearbox also let the world know of Borderlands 2's $150 special edition, which will come packaged in a Borderlands replica loot box containing not just a copy of Borderlands 2, but a Marcus bobblehead.

Borderlands 2 hits shelves Sept. 18.

That's quite the specific fetish! If they look like the girl here, though, then I'm down.
