I've never had much opportunity with these kinds of platformers, with the only experience being 5 minutes of Limbo, but they've always intrigued me. The color mechanic for Nihilumbra sounds pretty neat, and its world/story, with the way you described it, seems like something I could get into. Good review!

I think that I prefer Nihilumbra to Limbo because it never wears out its welcome. The first half hour of Limbo where it's you vs. giant spider is awesome, but once that stage is gone and it's you vs. machine cogs, the game looses a lot of steam. Nihilumbra's short, in the way that the game can be completed in an evening, but it then gives you the chance to go back to beaten stages that have been ramped up hard, but with all the game's abilities unlocked.

There's a decent sized demo on the dev's website. Give it a go if you can tear yourself away from forgotten Saturn games for a spell. If not, check out Powerslave!

Now Powerslave's a name I haven't heard in quite some time. I might have to give that a go before the year is up.

Though, the last time you recommended me a Saturn title, I gave it a not-so glowing review. >_>

I head spaceshit noises.

Ah yes; The Horde. To be fair,, I gave that rec because you were complaining you had a string of 7/10 reviews, and I did promise you it wouldn't be that.

I've liked Powerslave ever since the guy in charge of the EU release point blank refused to port it unless he could change the name, which he though was the most cringe-worthy game title he had ever heard. He renamed it to Exhumed, and changed the coverart to a bright red skull.

For us. For them. For you.

Nice job, Gary. Makes me want to play this thing. Your summation of Limbo in the comments sounds like a Cliff's Notes to my review, btw. Sigh. Always echoing my thoughts. Anyway, I liked this line for some reason: "narrated well by a disinterested commentator".

Thank you Marc. And you're right; the comments I have made in these here comments section is very similar to what you wrote in your review (remember that? Back when you used to write the odd thing?) which I suspect you lifted from me through an IM in the first place! It's the sort of thing you would do.
