Although its trailer was revealed yesterday, Rockstar Games formally announced Grand Theft Auto V today. They said it would be "the largest and most ambitious game" the company has ever created. (What else do you expect them to say?)
"Grand Theft Auto V is another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe," said Rockstar Games' founder Sam Houser in a press release. "We are incredibly excited to share our new vision with our fans."
Rockstar also confirmed the game's setting: Los Santos, a modern day, Southern California-inspired city. (Los Santos was also a city in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.) They claim the title will offer a "bold, new direction" in open world freedom and storytelling with a story focusing on the "pursuit of the almighty dollar." It sounds a bit familiar, doesn't it?
As similar as it all sounds, there's little doubt millions will be snagging GTAV as soon as it hits shelves; the series has already sold a combined 114 million copies worldwide.
No release date has been set or hinted at by Rockstar, but we'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we hear anything. With that said, are you excited?
