The picture at the top of this article is not a picture of Azwel, a new character Bandai Namco announced today it is adding to the roster of its upcoming fighting game, SoulCalibur VI. Instead, I have selected a picture of my favorite fighter, Talim. She's also in the game.

But anyway, Azwel is new enough that Bandai Namco hasn't even added screenshots to its press site, even though the press release I received today told me to look there for some and now I am extremely disappointed. So if you want to see Azwel in action, you'll need to watch the embedded trailer and also hear a voice actor who is clearly having fun with the role.

Who is Azwel, exactly? He's a fellow who was born in the Holy Roman Empire, is a member of the Aval Organization, and wields a weapon known as the Palindrome. His research has led him to conclude that humanity needs his special assistance if it is to overcome impending doom.

"Wielding his Palindrome, a weapon which processes fragments of both the cursed and spirit swords, Azwel can conjure double swords, a giant axe, or a spear & shield, out of thin air during battle," notes today's press release. "This makes him a formidable opponent as each of his weapon sets present different offensive and defensive tactics for players to use or overcome."

SoulCalibur VI is due to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam on October 19, 2018. That's a little under two months away. Do you have room in your collection for the stage of history?
