Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 PC minimum specs announced
Windows XP users, you might want to sit down before you read this.
Treyarch announced yesterday via its community blog the minimum system requirements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. While most of the requirements aren't much a surprise, the title's non-support for Windows XP will likely cause some eye bulging.
That's right: To play Black Ops 2, you'll need an OS that's Windows Vista or later. Why? Well, Treyarch says it's because Black Ops 2's engine was upgraded to DirectX11, which doesn't support Windows XP. Bummer.
The developer did promise the PC version of the game will feature enhanced visuals and higher frame rates, though (for those with the equipment to support it, of course).
Anywho, here are those minimum specs, which Treyarch said would make Black Ops 2 "absolutely" playable, as they've "tested extensively on a variety of hardware" and are "very confident in the performance even at the minimum specs."
OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz or AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHz
Memory: 2GB for 32-bit OS or 4GB for 64-bit OS
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512 MB or ATI Radeon HD 3870 512 MB
