It took around 30 or 40 hours of intense coding, but I can finally say that the HonestGamers blogs are up and running. Looking at my work thus far, I'm pretty happy with the results. Users can add friends and enemies (yipe!) to their lists, then decide who can see what when browsing blogs.
Of course, there are other blog systems out there that still have the advantage, but I'm pretty happy with the progress thus far. In the days ahead, around game time (after all, I have to play games too!), I hope to add the usual features you'd expect. For example, I want to make it so that you can click a single link to view the entries your friends and/or enemies have most recently made. You know, like you can on LiveJournal.
I'd also like to make blogs searchable somewhere down the road. That's a pretty serious goal of mine, and a fair bit of the groundwork is laid. There are some other modifications I have in mind, too. The thing is, the blogs are now to that point where I've done what testing I can on my own. I need guinea pigs. So... post in your own blogs. Add friends. Check out the features and the ways you can customize. Most of all, get used to blogs. They're replacing realms and I think most everyone will be happy about the results.
I'd say more, but this is already the most boring first post you've likely ever seen in a blog, and I'm tired. I have work tomorrow. Look for me to update this frequently, now that it's live. And hey, let me know when you've got one of your own running too, alright?
