So, I'm wondering what you all listened to when you were in high school, and what you think of that music now. For me, it's easy to compile such a list because I bought most of what I liked. At the time, I didn't really get into Pearl Jam (and still don't think they're much to be excited about) or Nirvana (which I actually like now). I don't think I've ever listened to Soundgarden, despite people around me all being said when they broke up. And I didn't buy Alice in Chains. Other stuff from that era found its way into my collection, though:

I listened to a bunch of Country/Western at the time, too, but I won't bore you with those band names. Anyway, what sort of stuff did you listen to at the time? I'm just wondering how things compared, how much overlap there was, etc. For my part, I can listen to any of the above stuff and still like it, sometimes even more than I used to. Listening to a lot of the songs now I hear things I didn't notice before and appreciate the lyrics and stuff a lot more.

	Genj - October 03, 2007 (08:44 PM) During most of High School, it was Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd on repeat. Add in some occasional Hendrix & Beatles. I'm pretty tired of Hendrix, and now instead of thinking Pink Floyd is the height of music, I think most of their stuff is pretentious crap (Dark Side of the Moon is still cool as is most of Wish You Were Here and Piper at the Gates of Dawn). I still like to have an occasional play through of Zeppelin I, IV, Physical Graffiti, and Houses of the Holy. The Beatles is the biggest change for me - I can't fucking stand them anymore. Oh, but Radiohead is still one of the greatest band ever (sans Pablo Honey).
	Halon - October 03, 2007 (09:32 PM) The first two years of high school was pretty much what everyone else listened to at the time with a few exceptions, such as the Pixies, 311, DMB, Dispatch, and a few others that I still listen to today. My music taste really hasn't changed much since my junior year of high school, except I'm a little less adventurous than I was back then.

Shit like Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Linkin park etc. I used to listen to a lot of crap hip-hop like Eminem and Cypress Hill. Stuff like that... Then I went through a phase of not caring, then I starting listening to the Beastie Boys and The Clash a lot, and then started to get into alternative rock, with The White Stripes and Radiohead being the first two main bands I really got into. Classic rock was also pretty big to me about two years ago, I used to love AC/DC, although I'm bored of them now. Then, that developed into various ventures into metal, industrial, electronic and more alternative genres, until I built up a nice varied collection. Usually, I took recommendations that people gave me here or on GameFAQS, which introduced me to various genres of music. The only type of music that doesn't appeal to me is country western and jazz music. I'm not saying that I'll never listen to those genres, but they spark very little interest in me.
	jiggs - October 04, 2007 (07:36 AM) i listened to classic rock & oldies music in high school on the radio and went through my parent's LP collection. my favorites were The Beatles Jimi Hendrix The Stones Led Zeppelin The Doors Santana The Hollies and a bunch more i don't remember off the top of my head. i still like these bands now, but i don't listen to them as much. after i got out of high school and went to college, i listened to nu-metal for a brief period then got into the nu-garage rock period. right now it's Jrock and Indie Rock for me.

	daff - October 04, 2007 (12:16 PM) I was into a lot of the stuff on your list 8th grade and freshmen year and then I got really into punk rock with NOFX, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Rancid, and Lagwagon being some of my favorites. Most of the Music I listened to back then I still love today.
	honestgamer - October 04, 2007 (12:35 PM) I strongly dislike most punk, in part because of memories from my first year at college. In particular, NOFX makes me want to murder someone. My roommate played "I Heard They Suck Live" two or three times daily for around four two months. I like The Offspring's album "Americana," which someone stole from me a few years ago, but that's more like punk-lite. I also heard the song "Born to Lose" by Social Distortion a short while ago and downloaded it on iTunes. I like that one a lot.
	daff - October 08, 2007 (11:25 PM) I had a similar thing my first year in school. My roommate played Rammstein and other terrible metal all the time. American is a great album which I still listen to once in a while. As for NOFX people I know either love them or hate them. They are actually my favorite live band.
