Gaming Progress 9
April 04, 2015

I'm going to break my habit and make this one as brief as possible:

Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360)- About to wrap up contracts and then finish the memory I'm currently on. An autosave glitch killed my progress. I decided to begin playing Brutal Legend instead.

Brutal Legend (Xbox 360)- I chopped up tons of druids, ran a handful of them over, and then finished off the first boss. So far the game has potential, but it has yet to really wow me. Despite my love for heavy metal, I'm not digging the vibe yet. I will say, though, that cutting up foes while Black Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe blared in the background was pretty sweet.

Soul Reaver 2 (PS2)- Escaped the first area and quit at the first save point. Although the mechanics are vastly improved in this installment, the combat is a bit familiar. It's been a while since I last played this game, and I don't remember if the battles get any better. Hopefully they do...

Wasteland Angel (PC)- Ever play a game that just screams 5/10? That would be Wasteland Angel. Then again, it is a Meridian4 game, and they've pretty much cornered the meh market. So far, it's your basic third-person action game in a car. You really don't get the sense that you're in a wasteland, as every level is pretty much a rudimentary arena confined in a tight space. The object of every level is to shoot everything until it's all dead. So far, I've beaten the first boss. Yay me. God, I feel like I'm falling asleep just writing about this game.

---

Tonight I hope to log in some time with both Wasteland Angel and Botanicula. I'm sure I could cross both of those games off my list with only a little effort.

My only progress in any games right now is Toukiden: Kiwami, and I believe I have a long ways to go before I finish it and can review it. I'm having more fun with it than you seem to be with Wasteland Angel, at least! By like... a lot.

I've got Legends on the PC and the entire thing bored me to tears. Poor Double Fine -- they seem hell bent on destroying themselves but have happily done so long after they released Psychonauts.

Jason: I almost forgot about Toukiden. I bought the previous one when I picked up my Vita. I should probably hit that soon.

EmP: I feared that it wouldn't be all that good, which sucks because I really want to like this game. I'm not even that far into it and I'm already reluctant to play more. I'm afraid this will be another game that I'm going to force myself through.
