Stuff I'm playing (sequel to "Crap I'm playing")
July 13, 2011

I guess I should mention that things have improved from "crap" to "stuff".

40 Winks- Finished it. It improved quite a bit after the first area, becoming more challenging and sporting more elaborate levels. Still not a fan of the camera and a few other small nuances (the hit detection, slipping off of platform edges). I'll probably review it in the future.

Scarface: The World is Yours- ...has also improved. It's tough getting the ball rolling, but once you do it becomes pretty addictive. This game doesn't waste its time with too many meaningless mini-games. It's all about striking deals, selling drugs, making a huge profit, and buying more junk so you can gain reputation (aka experience). Gain higher levels and you can buy more junk and deck out your mansion.

It does have a slight exploration aspect in trying to find and rout out gang dens and increase not only your ownership of the city, but your grip on the market.

The only tiring thing is that making money is so roundabout. You set up a meeting with a connection, do said connection a favor (side mission, usually killing someone, protecting someone, or delivering drugs), then get in touch with a supplier. Small suppliers sell in grams, which you have to sling on the streets 100 grams at a time. Large suppliers deal in kgs, which requires you to have fronts, businesses that secretly sell coke, and a warehouse. Dealing in keys is much more worthwhile, as the returns can total at least $500,000 per run on a bad day with 3kgs. Bear in mind those 3kgs only cost you $20,000.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (PS2)- I discovered that I had a shrink wrapped copy of this I had forgotten about. Honestly, I'm not impressed thus far (I know, I said that about the last two games). It's not horrible, but it could have been much better. I don't like the Kreate-A-Finisher system, and prefer the older system. I still haven't tried out the other modes, Motor Kombat and Konquest, so we'll see how those pan out. To me, it feels like DOA2, except with gore instead of bouncy boobs.

Chrono Cross- Having once again finished Chrono Trigger, I decided to pick up Chrono Cross again. I don't remember what I'm supposed to do next, so I'll have to look at my position in the guide to jog my memory.

Stop playing Chrono Cross.

Stop playing before it's too late.

Oh, you're going to love the next statement.

This is my third time through.

Third? Are you trying to get all...how many were there? 523 useless characters?
JoeTheDestroyer JoeTheDestroyer - July 14, 2011 (02:32 AM)
Nah. First time was a regular play through, second time I wanted to see an alternate ending, and this time I'm just playing through for the hell of it.

Heh. Sorry, Joe. I switched over to that account to read Suskie's blog and forgot to change it back. Just letting you know some random dude wasn't being snarky.

It was me. :D

Have you considered reviewing it, then?

..I think the high point for me in Chrono Cross was when the emo dude played a demon to death with an electric guitar.

True:
It's all good, man. I didn't take the snark in bad spirit to begin with. :)

Cynic:
I'm planning on it after I've beaten it again and reviewed Trigger. Unfortunately, it'll be a while, as I'm saving Chrono Trigger for my 100th review.

fleinn:
I think I grabbed him on my last play through, but I opted for the Magus wanna-be this time.

rofl. Just started laughing when I heard the music. No one goes to the mainland/edge of the map in this game - or else you're eaten by a shark :D

Almost as good as in Leisure Suit Larry. When you can't swim out anywhere, because the polyester suit gets caught in the underwater current.
