Super Destronaut DX-2 reaches Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on July 2nd, 2021, publisher Ratalaika Games announced today. Steam, not to be left out, will start selling the game on that same day, though so far it seems that will be the extent of PC distribution.

Developed by Petite Games, Super Destronaut DX-2 is described as "a retro space shooter with multiple modes." The Super Destronaut series first appeared in March of 2015, when the first game reached Wii U, and has appeared on most platforms since then (including the 3DS and Vita) in one form or another.

In Super Destronaut DX-2, players can play against the clock, or see how far a supply of three lives gets them, or limited the number of bullets as they focus on accuracy. It looks a bit like a cross between Space Invaders and Centipede, though if you've played one of the games ahead of us and you'd like to submit a correction to our hilarious misunderstanding, feel free.

The official list of game features is as follows:

  • 30 different Challenges to complete

  • 5 different arcade modes

  • Statistics

  • Colorful graphics

  • Possibility to turn off some graphical effects such as screen shake
Across all platforms, Super Destronaut DX-2 will carry an MSRP of $4.99/ €4.99, which should be expensive enough that you feel it but not so costly as to drive off too many sales. On the PlayStation consoles, it's a cross-buy, while Xbox One and Xbox Series X editions benefit from Smart Delivery.
