Chenso Club brings alien slaying to PC and consoles this year
Those nasty aliens better hope they don't meet the wrong end of a chainsaw (but you know they will).

There are multiple types of alien in popular fiction today. Some of them just want to make a phone call, but some of them dream of taking over the galaxy. The invaders in the upcoming game Chenso Club fall into the latter category, and that simply can't be tolerated.
Currently in development by the folks at Pixadome, Chenso Club is coming to life thanks in part to support from Aurora Punks, a "Swedish collective led by Robert Bäckström." Whatever that means. Considering his background working at Raw Fury and Fatshark, I take it to mean Aurora Punks is an indie publisher that likes to take a hands-on approach to the titles it distributes.
In Chenso Club, players control a group of girls known as the Chenso Club, who have decided to fight the invading aliens rather than attempting to make nice. This they do by hacking and slashing and brawling their way through a series of procedurally-generated levels with an old school aesthetic.
"Chenso Club has been one of those projects we've been wanting to make for a long time," said Conny Nordlund (AKA Koni), Pixadome Director. "We've worked with our composer "Knasibas" since we were 14. So it always made sense to us to make an intellectual property inspired by his music. For every Knasibas album, there has been an anime girl on the cover. This is what sparked the idea of making a heroine game with cute anime girls."
Nordlund references 90s cartoons (and particularly The Powerpuff Girls) as inspiration. The goal is to capture the violent nature of defense against an alien invastion, while keeping the visual approach charming and playful.
The cast of heroes includes an android named Blue who wields a chainsaw, a royal guard named Carmine who wields a massive hammer, and other Chenso Club members who for now are being kept a secret because what fun is introducing a game to the people who might buy it if you can't hold back a few key details?
Chenso Club's "sassy" cast will punch, jump, slash and smash its way through levels that change every time you encounter them, collecting alien life force to extend their runs or to purchase upgrades. Co-op play is also offered in both Endless and Versus modes, or you can always go it alone.
Today's announcement noted the game will arrive this Fall, for PC and "consoles." Which platforms that might entail is unclear at this time, though Switch, PS4 and Xbox One seem like a good bet.
