New studio Alkimia Interactive hard at work on Gothic Remake
The studio is also actively seeking talent to supplement the talent it already has.
THQ Nordic today revealed it has formed a new studio in Barcelona, Spain. The studio, known as Alkimia Interactive, is already working on its first project: a remake of the PC action-RPG, Gothic.
"After the Gothic Remake project was greenlit, the next step was to fully set up a studio subsidiary," explained a brief press release. "In Summer 2020 the studio started operations and began bringing together a team of passionate RPG developers."
The studio is apparently still growing, and there are positions open for workers in Barcelona and elsewhere. In fact, the official Alkimia Interactive site indicates that remote work is possible, and also advises that international applications are "very welcome." One assumes those applications will do more than just line bird cages.
"We strive to build Alkimia Interactive as a top-notch RPG studio," said Reinhard Pollice, Studio Head at Alkimia Interactive. "Our ambition is to become one of the best addresses for PC/Console core game development in the South of Europe."
Gothic caused quite a stir when it released in 2001, very nearly 20 years ago, so it makes sense THQ Nordic would want to revisit the property. Here's hoping the remake project produces something amazing and provides one more reason to keep thinking Gothic thoughts.
